Who Am I?
Hi, hello! My name is Kris Nomms!

I’m a Milwaukee area creative. I am a photographer and self-proclaimed typewriter nut. I’m a 29-year-old human who likes to make things. I recently relocated from Milwaukee County to Waukesha County and am loving every minute of it.
I started off as a photographer.
I bought my first DSLR in 2019, and when the world ended in 2020, I found that photography made a great escape. Though I love taking pictures of nature, there’s just something special about photographing people. They can express emotions that a tree just… can’t. And it’s that raw emotions that I love to capture.

I then tried my hand at some typewriter goodness.
I’ve been writing with a typewriter since 2022. My first typewriter is my beloved Olivetti. Overall, I do have a small collection of 6 typewriters, (3 Olympias, 2 Smith-Coronas, and 1 Olivetti). I primarily write short, free-verse poetry. I utilize raw emotions and imagery to convey my message. I have a small chapbook I have out there, zine style, titled
Rearview Mirrors and Other Reasons I Stay Inside.

Who am I outside all of that?

I’m a queer, non-binary human who loves playing silly little video games, go hiking, dancing, other generic fitness activities, knitting, and listening to new music. I love my friends, my pets (2 cats and a ball python), and most importantly, my life-partner. I aspire to travel and look at cool rocks. I am rarely seen without a camera, since I don’t quite know what to do with my hands anymore.
Photography FAQs
I can be hired for Photography!

You can reach out to me via my contact page. Fill out an inquiry for a photoshoot, and I’ll get back to you within 5 business days (unless I note on the form that I’m out of the office on vacation).
What are my rates?
I charge a base price of $150/hr for the first 4 hours of a session ($250/hr every hour after). I feel that everyone should be able to take something home from a photoshoot, so the first 15 edits are free (price after the first 15 to be discussed prior to editing).

What kind of cameras do I use?

For digital photography, I use a Nikon D5600.
For film photography, I use a small collection of cameras to help avoid switching out rolls of film mid-session (to keep things running as smoothly as possible). This collection includes a Minolta X-700, Olympus OM-10, a Yashica, with the addition of two instant film cameras, a Fujifilm Instax 10 and a Polaroid Spirit600.
How long do edits usually take?
On average, edits usually take about 2 weeks max. Obviously, if I finish sooner, you’ll get your photos sooner (no need to make you wait unnecessarily). If I am requested to rush edits, there will be a “rush” fee, and will be discussed prior to the the shoot itself, depending on urgency and complexity.

Typewriter FAQs
Just… Why typewriters?
Why not? Typewriters aren’t really being made anymore, meaning these machines were made to be durable. My machines all range between 40-50 years old, so they’ve definitely proven they can stand the test of time. They also aren’t super common nowadays, so every time you see one is going to be just a bit more memorable!
